What Is Arc Search?

Arc Search is a mobile browser from The Browser Company that mixes regular web browsing with AI-assisted search. Atomic Gains highlights its automated summaries, Browse for Me, Pinch-to-Summarize, and mobile-first design. The current Arc site still puts the same idea at the center: get to an answer quickly without working through a page full of search results first.

It is available on both iOS and Android, and it is still receiving updates in 2026. The Android app, for example, was updated on September 1, 2026.

Browse for Me Changes the Search Process

Browse for Me is the feature that gives Arc Search its identity. Instead of returning only a conventional list of links, Arc searches the web, reads several pages, and creates a custom answer page around the query. Results can include direct answers, recommendations, comparisons, and step-by-step information.

That works well for queries where opening several search results would otherwise be part of the job. Looking up travel ideas, comparing products, researching a topic, or getting a quick overview can take fewer taps.

You are not locked into it, either. Arc Search can use Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, Perplexity, or Kagi as the default search engine instead.

Summaries Without Leaving the Browser

Arc Search also tackles long pages directly. Its summarization tools can condense an article or webpage when you want the main points rather than the full text. Android includes a dedicated Summarize option, while Arc also promotes its gesture-based “get the gist in a pinch” experience.

Voice is another option. Both platforms support voice search, while iPhone users can use Call Arc, which lets you hold the phone to your ear and ask questions conversationally.

Browsing Without So Much Clutter

Arc Search is still a full browser, not just an AI answer screen. It includes built-in blocking for ads, trackers, pop-ups, and cookie banners, plus Reader Mode, incognito browsing, page translation, and automatic tab archiving.

Arc Sync can also carry Spaces and tabs between Arc devices, although not everything travels with you. Browsing history, extensions, profiles, and some other settings do not currently sync.

Best Use Cases

Arc Search fits people who do a lot of quick research on their phone and would rather get an organized answer before deciding which sources to open. It is also a good fit for readers who dislike crowded mobile pages, persistent cookie prompts, and keeping dozens of old tabs around.

Limitations

AI summaries can leave out context, and a generated Browse for Me page should not replace checking original sources when accuracy matters. Search results are also being filtered and organized for you, which means some useful pages may receive less attention than they would in a traditional results list.

The Browser Company is now developing Dia alongside Arc, so users choosing Arc today should also be aware that the company’s newer AI-browser work is happening in a separate product.

Final Takeaway

Arc Search works well when you want less searching before you reach the useful part of the web. Browse for Me, page summaries, voice search, clutter blocking, and automatic tab cleanup make mobile research quicker without removing ordinary browsing.

The trade-off is familiar: summaries save time, but important research still deserves a look at the source.
